Logos and Marks, From the NDCS Archives

One of my favorite exercises is brand development—beginning with an outstanding mark and building an entire world of collateral around a theme. Here is a collection of various logos and marks from the NDCS vault. Typically I begin a concept design as a simple black and white silhouette before choosing a color scheme. This approach guarantees that when the day comes and you need that mark to work in one color at thumbnail size, you won't find yourself in a very colorful pickle, stuck with a logo that doesn't translate legibly to one color printing. Looking for a new or rebrand for your business or service, let me how I can help, contact me at: info@ntegralinteractive.com.

From the NDCS Archives, Destination True Value

From early 2003 until roughly 2008, I had an ongoing client relationship with True Value Hardware, based in Chicago, Illinois. While working as a subcontractor over a period of several years I worked on pilot program collateral, trade show installations, kiosks, signage, interactive web based training (WBT) modules and finally the 'Destination True Value' program collateral—which rewrote the book on how member stores are designed, planned, built and merchandised. Part green initiative and part rebrand, the Destination True Value program took nearly two years to plan and execute and produced a fat stack of deliverables. It was also an opportunity to apply nearly all of of my skills experience—from artistic direction and concept design to project leadership and content development. In addition to the design and production work, I contributed original photography featuring live models and product shots, multimedia (videography / motion graphics) and UX / UI design for WBT modules and internal communications. Here are a few examples from the print collateral stack. To find out how I can be of service and current availability, contact me at: info@ntegralinteractive.com.

Birds, A Nod to Film Noir

Featured here are two of several in a series dedicated to one of my personal favorite film genres and directors. Hitch would approve I would think. These images were created with my lovely model, Nik. The technical approach to creating images like this is really quite simple—a matter a compositing multiple images together, then cleaning up the rough edges. The visual impact however can be quite stunning. The Birds series is also featured on Behance.net.

Angel in Blue

One of several 'experimental' levitation images I created with my lovely model and creative muse, Nik. The technical approach to creating images like this is really quite simple—a matter a compositing two images together, then cleaning up the rough edges. The visual impact however can be quite stunning. The Angel in Blue series, also featured on Behance.net, was essentially an in-studio test shoot, with the goal being to shoot a more fanciful series outdoors for a more dramatic effect.

Images from Beaver Bay

Most recently I found myself in a wonderful little corner of the world known as Beaver Bay, on the northern shore of Lake Superior. These images are among a hand full to earn their way into my portfolio of landscapes made north of Duluth. Street Photography, Minneapolis

I'm out and about in Minneapolis whenever I have the chance—camera in hand. Minneapolis is a diverse, modern city with a variety of outdoor activities to choose from—people watching is one of my personal favorites. Some of the best photo opportunities are had at any of the various neighborhood street festivals, celebrations and cultural fairs. There are also museums, music venues, and unique neighborhoods with a flavor all their own—from Uptown, South to Northeast Minneapolis. If you enjoy street photography in particular and you'd like to see more, you're invited to follow on Instagram and Like on Facebook. You can also browse more Minneapolis street photography on my smugmug page. Keep in touch and I'll see you out there. —Cheers!
